twelve stones

I'm looking forward to church this Sunday for a few reasons:

1. We are baptizing - seems we've been doing much of this lately and I can never get enough of that!

2. I am preaching on one of my favorite passages of Scripture: Joshua 4 and the twelve stones memorial.

3. We are having a family integrated service - the kids are staying in the whole service. We have special sermon notes for the kids that coordinate with my sermon. Word searches, decoders, puzzles, key words, and more that will lead them to the main points of my sermon. We also have some cool things in the service that are still a secret. I can' wait!

4. But I can share one secret: during the end of my sermon I will be casting the vision for our new Twelve Stones ministry. This is a family integrated and multi-generational ministry that PRBC will begin Wednesday nights in September. We have been overhauling my job description so that I can fully devote my time to this new ministry. This is going to be a big deal. We have a site set up for Twelve Stones that will be used to store our multimedia and info and more.

I encourage you to go to the 12 Stones site and read around and bookmark it. It is new, but much more will be coming.

Darren,
You know my opinion or conviction on this. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. When we as believers, especially teachers, step out in faith to do what is right the enemy will attack us full force. I am certain you know this, but many in the church may be put off by such a bold change. That should serve to confirm that it is needed. I believe that satan loves it when Christians get stuck into ruts and begin to put their traditions and preferences above the teaching of scripture. He hates it when Christians begin to really study the word, understand it, apply it and then their lives change.
I think satan is more then happy with most churches in America and the way that they do church, and I hope and pray that the Lords grace and presence is on 12stones and it drives the enemy crazy and drives the Holy Spirit itno the lives of believers like never before and into the lives of non-believers for the first time.
Most importantlly the command on parents to train their children and on believers to care for the poor, needy, sick and naked, widows and orphans should compell us to desire a ministry like this. Where the marriage is mirror of the relationship of Christ to his people, I pray that 12stones will be a mirror of how the family of God should be represented. Not in segregated teaching or services, but in unity, love and the bond of peace.
May God bless you, your wife and kids and all of PRBC through you.
Your friend and brother in Christ.
To God be all Glory!

This sounds wonderful, I will be praying for you and your family as you go down this new road God has for you. I do agree with inhotwater's comments... we need to continue to labor in prayer for one another.
Blessings.

Please answer in an e-mail, tell me on sunday, leave a comment on my blog(wyattsbloghi.blogspot.com), anything would do!

The Mission

2 Tim 4:1-4
I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
